Leaning over you here, cold and catatonic
I catch a brief reflection of what you could and might have been
It's your right and your ability
To become…my perfect enemy… | | |
| What though the radiance which was once so bright Be now for ever taken from my sight, Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind; In the primal sympathy Which having been must ever be; In the soothing thoughts that spring Out of human suffering; In the faith that looks through death In years that bring the philosophic mind. Thanks to the human heart by which we live, Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears, To me the meanest flower that blows can give Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears. | | |

| Well... again with the song lyrics, but i've rediscovered an old artist..or group rather that I never should have stopped listening to.
This song, to me, is about being so close to someone that you can't let out of your life, or can't let go of in your mind, but/and keeping them close to you is hurting you....deteriorating your life and everything you stand for, unintentionally killing you. Or it's the opposite and you are killing that person because when you are with them, you remind them of someone that was a "pain" in their life. I know i've been on both sides. It could also be a metaphor for that "perfect circle" of friendship, but that one of those members inside the circle does somthing so horrible to you that you want to lash out and severe any ties or connections with them...but you cant.
The umbillical chord part to me is, for example, when the chord is cut between the mother and child, it has to be done in order for that child to move into life, and make that transition from womb to the breathing fresh air. Or in a relationship, to severe the co-dependency and breathe anew...and all that pressure off your chest is lifted.
"The chain" - Locked in marriage or a relationship with that person. "One resolve" the only option left to pull yourself out of the situation...yet it's so impossible to do.
"Liberate this will, to release us all" - To liberate yourself, or free yourself from some outside burden on your life, somthing that is controlling your thoughts and actions beyond your control.
"And I don't wanna feel this overwhelming hostility
No, I don't wanna feel this world around me hostility"
This is about when a relationship with another human has pushed you to your limits of anger, and everyone becomes an enemy to you in your mind...you develope such hostility towards everyone that has any connection with that person. . Sometimes cutting that chord between you and another is very difficult, and I know the TWO people who will read this will relate to it and probably love this song..
Anyway, it's called Oresetes, by A perfect Circle.
Metaphor for a missing moment
Pull me into your perfect circle
One womb, one chain, one resolve
Liberate this will to release us all
Gotta
Cut away, clear away
Slip away and sever this
Umbilical residue
Keeping me from killing you
And from pulling you down with me here
I can almost hear you scream
One more medicated peaceful moment
Give me one more medicated peaceful moment
And I don't wanna feel this overwhelming hostility
I don't wanna feel this overwhelming hostility
Gotta
Cut away, clear away
Slip away and sever this
Umbilical residue
Gotta
Cut away, clear away
Slip away and sever this
Umbilical residue
Keeping me from killing you
Slip away and sever this
Keeping me from killing you
One possible other thing, or double meaning to this song is that Orestes in Greek Mythology was the song of Agamemnon, who was king of Mycenea with his wife clytemnestra. While orestes was away, he returned to Troy to find his Father dead to Clytemnestra's secret lover- his father had been murdered through his mothers lust for another man. Eventually when Orestes grew older, he saught revenge via murdering his mother and her lover.
His mother always loved him, but to be near her Orestes felt nothing but pain, and wanted to sever any ties he had with her...thus reaching his final decision..
I see that relate to so many relationships out there..
anyway, good stuff!

P.S
I've always loved these lyrics...
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
(Imagine all the people sharing all the world)
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
These are good too:
So glad to see you well
Overcome and completely silent now
With heaven's help
You cast your demons out
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you off your cloud
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead
Recall the deeds as if
They're all someone else's
Atrocious stories
Now you stand reborn before us all
So glad to see you well
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead
With your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping
Your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping down to choke you now
